Synopsis of Venom: The Enemy Within (1994)

Venom: The Enemy Within is a three-issue limited series by Marvel Comics, written by Bruce Jones and illustrated by Bob McLeod, continuing from Venom: The Madness and leading into Venom: The Mace. It follows Eddie Brock and his symbiote as they face a new threat in San Francisco.

Issue #1 – “Down and Dirty!”
Halloween night in San Francisco, Venom intervenes to stop bullies from stealing candy from children. He webs one bully and tosses the other away, but the first escapes. On a BART subway train, the escaped bully is attacked by tiny laughing goblins, their spectral overseer watching. Venom, now back as Eddie Brock, encounters a political rally by Charles Palentine (later revealed as the antagonist) and a late newspaper report about the goblin attack. The city begins to report sightings of goblins 

Issue #2 – “Blood Tide”
Venom and Morbius the Living Vampire are ambushed in Alcatraz Prison by Demogoblin and a horde of goblins. They fight off the attackers, but sunlight from a pumpkin bomb blast weakens Morbius. Venom uses sonic blasts to drive the goblins underground, but Demogoblin is thrown into San Francisco Bay. Meanwhile, Palentine convinces citizens to set the city ablaze to purge the goblins, using a mystical necklace to seal them underground. The BART expansion is revealed as the cause of their escape  

Issue #3 – “Blood Tide” (conclusion)
Venom and Morbius arrive in the burning city to stop the fires. They confront Palentine, who has taken control of the situation. Venom learns from Palentine’s diary that the necklace’s power is tied to sunlight, and that the BART expansion disrupted the seal. The series ends with Venom and Morbius working together to stop the goblin threat, setting up the next arc
