In Fearful Symmetry, Kyle Rayner, the Green Lantern, is possessed by the Parallax entity during the Sinestro Corps War crossover. Parallax, in Kyle’s own Green Lantern uniform, invades his mind and forces him to relive traumatic memories, including the deaths of loved ones like Alex, Donna, Jade, and his mother Maura. Kyle fights back with green energy constructs, but Parallax overpowers him, showing him the real-world death of Jack T. Chance. In a moment of rage, Kyle drives his pencil into Parallax’s eye, but the entity laughs, revealing it is still trapped in Kyle’s mind. Kyle then discovers that the painting of his mother he had been admiring was actually painted by her, symbolizing her enduring presence.
