Cable Issue #1 2008 marvel comics

 Cable (2008) #1, written by Duane Swierczynski and penciled by Ariel Olivetti, kicks off the series set in the aftermath of the Messiah CompleX event. Cable is tasked with safeguarding the infant savior of the mutant race, Hope Summers, who is destined to be the Messiah of mutantkind  

To protect her, Cable travels to the future, but he soon realizes that both he and the baby are being hunted by a relentless enemy — Bishop — who will stop at nothing until blood is spilled

 The issue introduces the central conflict of the series: Cable’s mission to shield Hope from threats that could doom mutantkind, while facing a deadly pursuit from a foe who sees her as a target.
